July 22, 2012 Ayala Terraces
6 K Time Finished:55 minutes
b4 the event:
since its lightweight, i used my nb shoes for running on tuesdays and thursdays. Sad to say, i was feeling a bit of pain in my legs after a thursday run. I googled the internet and learned about the middle foot strike so i became conscious of my form, posture and where i place my foot. On July 21, i did some swimming...i love the water.
D day
the night before the run, i couldnt sleep, my throat hurts and my nose was running..hooboy..not good. i had to go downstairs at 3:00 am to drink hot water. didnt need my alam clock/cp to wake up so i just took a shower and dressed for the run, and waited. The gunstart for 6k was supposed to be 5:30am so i decided to go out at 4:25 am. Thats the last time i will register for a fun run that early. I arrived after 4:30,but the run hasnt been started yet. The gun start was late for 15 minutes. There were lots of running groups supporting the event. After running for about 100 meters, 2 people fell down, i dont know why... as usual, the first few minutes run were the hardest. I wrongly interpreted the map so i just followed where the runners were going. The 6k had only 2 water stations and the first one was so far..why is that?. Turning point was JY square, it was easy for me at that point. Performancewise, i felt i was faster but when i saw the time, i was disappointed. i still havent improved my speed..Its still about 7-8 km per kilometer. I really should stop being bothered by my personal time.
Some comments:
the people at the courtesy booth had a hard time finding my backpack. next time tie a red ribbon.
even if i bought 2 new running shoes, i still stick to my old adidas (walking shoes) for fun runs. i never felt pain in my knees afterwards
naglaway ko sa medal for 21K, but i dont see myself doing long distance. hanggang 12 ka ang pangarap ko...maybe 16k kung naay pldt-smart 10 miler run. feeling nako, wala nay tawo inig abot nako sa finish line hehe
Food: 1 big puso, 2 small lumpia shanghai, 1 saging, 1 pocari bottle.
dako ang ilahang cerfication, it pains me to fold it pero wala gyud koy mahimo. they had some photographers taking some pics, hope they took mine.
Lessons learned: bring your own bottled water. they only give 1 bottle at the event and its never enough. The problem with ayala/cbp venue is that there are no street vendors. You just have to depend on whats given to you for sustenance.
if possible: get enough sleep
next run: Red Cross 8k (i'm scared hehe)
