Venue: CCSC Dec. 30 2012
Gun Start: 6:00 am
Time: 5k 47:52
First of all, its been 2 months since my surgery. I decided to start exercising again last Dec 15, 2012, mostly slow jog and walking. When I heard about the Sinulog Run, I decided to register right away. One thing I discovered about my new body is that I'm not as strong as I used to be. I easily get tired. Even though I ran about 4 times before the Sinulog Run, I wasnt able to run the whole 5k. I had to walk about 1 k particularly at mango/gen.maxilom, I dont want to push my body. After the run, i had a quick breakfast at chowking then slept 3 hours. Wow!, I was really tired.
There really wasnt much happening in Sinulog Run, just the usual warm up then run There were 3 water stations even its only 5k. There were lots of participants in Sinulog costume and 3 music stations on the road. I didnt get a finishers shirt coz they only give it to the first 100 finishers. No snacks, no freebies and no certificates. I saw 5 candidates of Ms. Cebu and a wannabe Elvis (his name is Raffy) did an Elvis number (that was weird). Thats it, I'm glad to be back. Will I join next year's Sinulog Run. Of course, December is a time of eating, sleeping and practically doing nothing so this is the best time to run.
Next run. Not sure yet. I'm still thinking about the cooperative run. I have a small hubag in my behind, I'm still waiting if it gets worse or if it will suddenly disappear.

Citigym Halloween Run 2 (last run for 2012)
Oct 28, 2012 Waterfront Hotel 5:00 am
5k 42:45
My Oct 25 surgery was postponed so I had time for 1 more run
.Citygym was initially targetted to be my first 21k, unfortunately due my health issues, I registered for the 5k. I bought an otaku cap for my costume, I was a bit a disappointed that only a few runners decided to wear costumes.
Anyways, the run was uneventful, from waterfront to gaisano country mall then back. They gave out sosy sandwiches (hindi masarap), canned pocari and coffee. There's also free virginia hotdog and an energy drink (forgot the brand). I was the first customer in the photobooth (didnt like it) so I left early.
I was admitted at the hospital on the same day and had the surgery on monday.
I am sad that this is my last run for the year, Sorry to all other scheduled fun runs like the elizabeth hotel and silk air, wish i was there. I'm sure there will be a lot of runners joining the run.
If ever i can get back to running, I'm going back to 5k. May target is to finish 5k in 30 minutes before I try the longer distances. Hope I can achieve my target. I dont want to be the last runner ever again.
Will I join Citigym 3 run? Of course. hopefully for the 21k

6th Pink October Run
Oct 14, 2012 5:30 am
5k 41: 38 ayala terraces
I know I said last week that Milo run is my last but I just cant resist joining the Pink Run. I havent even run this past week coz I was busy with work and check ups. The route was just around cebu business park, reminiscent of runnrs academy. I missed 5k and I'm glad I'm going back to short distances. If ever I'm well enough to run again, I plant to join 5k-8k. I wont join 10 and above until I can finish 5k in 30 minutes. Possible?..not really sure..we'll see.
Got some freebies: 1 picture from photobooth and 1 little pouch from fitness first, bread from Julies and 1 small bottled water from St. James.
Reminders to all women ages 40 and above. Its time for your annual breast check up. Seriously you need to do this. Please dont be afraid, not all lumps/tumors are cancerous. Remember October is breast cancer awareness month so go the malls like SM and Ayala for free checkups and other activities.
I'm scheduled for surgery next week, thats means I cant run anymore this year. I'm gonna miss Citigym run and CCM 2013...arrgghhhh

Milo Run 2012
Oct 7, 2012 10K 1:23:10
Start/Finish: CNU/CCSC 5:00
Its 9: 30 am, laundry done, watched a
bit of tv. I just finished my last race for the year, the milo 10k
run. I am happy to announce that I made it within the cut-off time
(3 minutes earlier compared to Timex run last Aug) and received my
certificate. Since this is my last race, I gave it my all.
I brought little bags of water placed
in ice water plastic (1 2-inch water and 2 1-inch water)
some things worth mentioning
Perfect weather for running. Slight
drizzle at the start but it stopped after 15 minutes during the run.
Since the roads were closed early, I
had to walk from B, Rodriguez (near the old police station) to
Abellana. When I reached the venue, 21k runners just started.
Route was okey. First time I passed
general maxilom to p del rosario.
I skipped 2 water stations and 1
sponge station. I did try the second sponge station, the sponge wasnt
cold but its ok.
There was a point when I thought I
couldnt make it. I was expecting to reach gorordo 40 minutes before
cutoff but I was still in salinas drive by that time.
I hope someone took my picture, I'm
sure I looked dreadful. My mouth was open most of the time. Hingal to
the max. I only slowed down during uphills roads.
No snacks, just milo drink and some
yogurt free tasting. But thats okey. Thats why I like the osmena blvd
route, so many places to buy food even its early in the morning.
There were so many students, kids and
runners who participated in the event. I'm sure Coach Rio and Milo
are happy with the turnout.
I had breakfast at McDonalds, had to
walk from abellana to Mcdonalds coz there wasnt any jeep.
Panata: presuming I'm still healthy
enough to run, I vow to join Milo Run's 10k every year. My goal to to
finish 10K in 1 hr 10 minutes. If I achieve this, then I will
consider joining 21K.
Next on the agenda: hair straightening
at the parlor after rest of course
p.s. About being the last race, I could
change my mind, that depends on the outcome of my tests. I started
seeing the doctor last sat. I'll be doing some tests tomorrow. I'm
scared of the results. There is one race I'd like to try, the citigym
halloween run for 10k. I was even looking in stores for possible
costumes..hehe cant believe I did that.

World Heart Day Run and Zumbafest
Sept 30, 2012 Ayala terraces 5:30am
15k 2:20:05
Its 10:45 am, just finished my laundry, had a quick shower and now I'm just waiting for 12:30 pm coz I'm gonna eat some pizza with my inaanak.
Last night, I didnt want to run, When I woke up at 3:45 am. I didnt want to run. This is a side effect when I got sick, I just got lazy. This is my second to the last run, my last will be Milo run 10k, after Oct 7, I plan to go to the doctor for a check-up. I hope and pray that whatever is wrong with me, the doctor can find a cure. I also pray that i will find a nice doc. If ever I get well, I will resume my running in 2013. I'm not gonna do the full marathon, I can only promise to aim for 21k. As for 2012, Oct 7 is D day for me. I was thinking of joining CITIGYM, but after my run today, I just dont wanna do it anymore. I may change my mind, we'll see.
Some not so good things that happened.
* i wasnt able to ride the trisikad. I had to walk all the way to crown regency. I met a nice guy who offered me a ride to ayala but I refused. I dont ride on cars with strangers but thanks for the offer.
* the run started 5:30 am, much to late for me. I finished almost 8:00 am and the sun was already out at 6:30 am. I had a feeling i wanted to pee before the run, just used mind over matter and the feeling was gone after 30minutes.
* thoughts running thru my mind during the run- " DI NA KO MUUSAB" hehe..yup, in my own negative way I am motivating myself to finish the 15K. A marshall offered me a ride in his motorbike but I refused. i'm so proud of myself.
* walked after the turning point at talamban before i reached gaisano country mall and in IT park. I just couldnt run anymore, my legs and body felt heavy. An ungo runner advised me to skip the water stations, but i just couldnt do it.
* they ran out of pocari again. I only had 1 freebie, the neurogen pill. the other runners were holding a water bottle, but i couldnt find the person distributing it. They probably couldnt wait for slow runners like me. Didnt see the free bp, free cholesterol check up, free blood sugar..where are the FREEBIES???? couldnt find them...urrgghhhh
* to newbies and slow runners out there, I advise you not to run the longest distance in the fun run. swerte mo kung naa pay food mahabilin. it really irks me that they dont give importance to the runners who ran the long distances. By the time you arrived, nanghipus na ang ubang mga booth.
NICE THINGS THAT HAPPENED.
* i finished 10 minutes shorter than the philsan run which i ran 15k
* they gave out certificates. wow! amazing..
i can believe i can only mention 2 good things...
Will I run next year presuming I'm still alive and physically able to run: yup, but only in the 6k, no more long distances. some say mas better daw ang long distances kay pwede makahinay-hinay. ako ra may naghinay hinay, uban kusog kaayo,

Run for Freedom and Democracy
Sept 23 2012 12k 1:44:32
Plaza Independencia 5:30 am
6/7 runs for Sept . organized by ANAD partylist
Its 9:15 in the morning, I really would like to rest so I'll try to make this short. I've been sick for more than 2 weeks and I wasnt really looking forward to this run. But it turned to be one of the best run's I had.Main reason: The route..wohoooo I was finally able to run in srp..best place to run..sayang di ko nakita ang sunrise..you can just see the sea on your left side. The road was totally closed so it was safe to run. The route is simple, just go straight then return, i wouldnt get lost with this kind of route. Its mostly flat, there is a bit of uphill/downhill, oks naman.
Other details.
The emcee has a sense of humor.
more participants compared to last weeks philsan and run for community empowerment
suprisingly, i wasnt the last runner, daw. There were 2 or 3 runners behind me who was just walking. I think they came in late .
my time is 2 minutes shorter compared to vcmc 12k run. i'm happy.
no certificates. honestly i dont care anymore about this one.
snacks: brutus burger..wow! thats a first. take that philsan hehe...also 1 bonus orange tetra pack juice and 1 bottled water. heaven..heheh
will I join next years run? if its the same route. why not? sana earlier ang gun time so i can watch the sunrise.
p.s.. one marshall from safe decided to jog with me in the last 4-5k of the run. Had fun talking to him. He gave me some good advise.
next: world heart day run 15k. not excited with this one...REALLY.. i am so looking forward to my retirement hehe almost there..

1st Philsan Run
15k official time is 2:30:10
September 16, 2012 Ayala Terraces
Its 10:50 am.
I am so glad I survived this weeked, I just ran 10k and 15k back to back after I got sick last week. I was thinking of not finishing the Philsan run but after passing the turning point, i just thought what the heck, just finish it, hinay hinay basta kanunay and i was doing that. Slowly and surely, just call me Ms. Pagong...hehe I dont care anymore as long as i reach the finish line. I'm having doubts with the official time, i think my time is 2:15 minutes but i'm going to accept 2:30 for now. I will be running another 15K on Sept 30, lets see if the time is still the same. BTW, this is the first time i used my newly purchased hydration belt, i really think this belt is slowing me down. I better not use this on the milo run.
The only good thing I can say about this run, aside from the fact that i'm so happy that i finished it, is that they have distance markers...yehey! okey the bad stuff: mahal ang registration fee. This type of rate usually means there's a time chip, but no, the race bib is just an ordinary race bib, the singlet is just an ordinary singlet. The food is just 1 tinapay, and nothing else. NO DRINKS. NO CERT. Masungit pa gyud ang nanghatad ug bread.. What??!!! no porkschops or bbq for snacks.??!!! grabehhh... Where did the rest of my P550 go? this is INJUSTICE! Mas mahal pa mo sa timex and MILO. Lesson to runners out there, ayaw ug pa-register kung mahal ang rate. makasapot jud kaayo. NEVER AGAIN philsan. Okey, Alvin Patrimonio was there, maybe he's the reason the rates are high. He's still cute btw , his looks hasnt changed over the years.
Observations:
1. Lesser number of participants in the 2 runs i joined. I think there's too many runs this september, maybe the runners are exhausted or got sick just like me.
2. I was faster last August (lower distances) compared to September.
note to myself: dont register in 2 runs during weekends. also, retire by october. papa-check-up sa doctor. Use the hydration belt on lsd's only.

Run for Community Empowerment
Sat, Sept 15, 2012 5:30 am
10k 1:32:07
After I ran the 1st Race for Faith last week, I got sick. I was suffering from dry cough thats why I wasnt able to run during the weekdays, except for the 10 minute run in Runnr Academy day 2. I dreaded this weekend coz i was really in no condition to run. But still, I decided to join. The reason i decided to register for this run was because of the route, i really wanted to try running banawa hills. Its gonna be tough but i really need the experience of uphill/downhill running.
D DAY
This is the first time i brought my own water...its kinda uncomfortable holding the bottle esp. if my hand is perspiring.. it was helpfull to me during the run esp. when i had the parched throat attack. I was also able to skip about 3-4 hydration tables. When the 10k runners assembled, there were only about 20 of us, i knew right then i was gonna be the last finisher again, and I was right. Even the old guy wearing santa clause suit, carrying a short pole and sometimes stops to give candies to kids was faster than me..wow! that was a total letdown. As expected, I had a hard time running the banawa road, after the turnaround point, i was so tired i decided to walk the uphill part..my body was already thinking of giving up, i was even thinking of not entering philsan run on sunday. There is one good thing about the run, the weather was perfect, cloudy with a little wind...the sun came out after my run. When i reached the finish line, there were some people clapping, well i was relieved it was all over. I went over to the tents to get my lootbag, medyo bad trip coz dedma lang sa ako ang mga tao. There were lots of bags on the ground but the werent distributing it. what were they for? I got my lootbag from a masungit na guy. Contents : 1 shirt, 1 bottled water, 2 pcs of bread, 1 banana and 1 boiled egg...i'm happy with my refreshments. I just didnt get my finishers certificate...i'm not really sure they were distributing it.. the people there were not really friendly..anyways, i dont care anymore, i just wanted to go home and rest. My time was longer than my timex 10k..now i'm having doubts if i can finish the 10k milo run within the cutoff time. I'm really crazy about thinking i can do the 21k
will i join Run for Community empowerment 2. Maybe, depends on the route. i wanna go back to banawa again.
next: philsan run 15k

1st Race for Faith
Sept 9 2012 beside CICC 5:30 a.m.
14k 2 hrs 6 min(estimated time since the timer wasnt working BOOO!)
Its 10:23 in the morning, i just finished the fun run and did some laundry washing. I'm exhausted so i'll just say what pops into my mind.
Its the first time I joined the longest distance in the fun run which is 14k. Sad to say, I didnt receive anything special, freebies or something, for finishing the longest distance in the run. I'm really disappointed with this. Okey, so there's no medal, how about a finisher's shirt? or loot bag?..
Bad thing: No distance markers. Lack of direction guides for people like me who are not from mandaue. Map route wasnt included in the race kit. I tried to listen to the route instructions but something happened to the microphone. TIMER wasnt working. No Certificates. Photobooth wasnt able to accomodate everyone who wants to have a souvenir pic. NO Power daw! BOOOO. No raffle.. why oh why?
Didnt have the parched throat attack but I had a side stitch attack. I got hungry at the last hour of the run so i just kept on drinking water. During the route, the 3k and 6k got mixed with the 14k runners, this was the time i was totally separated from the 14k group. I really hate it when this happens.
Good Thing: Lots of marshals. Lots of hydration tables. I didnt skip the hydration table, I think there were seven of them but there was no water at the starting line. Food (pancit canton and bread courtesy of lourdes catering). I was so hungry i ate the pancit using my hands. When the pancit was almost gone, that was the time i noticed the plastic fork...bwahhahah. Thank God they didnt run out of food, I noticed there was some styrofoams left.
Memorable thing: I was the last finisher. There were actually 4 of us who were last but i guess they gave up. When i crossed the finished line, the emcee announced my race bib number as the last. I must admit it was a letdown, I've never been the last before. But on the other hand, I was happy the marshals escorted me halfway during the race. I would have gotten lost without them. Was I too slow? Was there too few 14k runners? Was it the shoes? I dont know, If my calculated finish time is correct, its consistent with my pace last VCMC run. There must be something here in mandaue that makes my run slower. Next week, I'll wear my adidas shoes for the run in fuente osmena and ayala. Lets see if my pace is still the same. BTW, I decided this will be my last race in mandaue for this year, unless something good comes up like unilab or globe. But I'm not gonna register in the longest distance in the run, being last feels weird. I do plan to register in CDU run next year but only for the 13k run.
Will I join the second race for faith, if there is one.. DEFINITELY NO. The food may be filling but I cant forgive them for not giving something special to the 14k finishers..I mean c'mon..no goodies...grabehhh
Additional content: If u see the word "1st Race/Fun Run"...be prepared for the worst. I'm sure there will be palpaks during the run since the organizer is a newbie. Next week, Philsan's 1st fun run (hooyboyyy, now i'm scared.)

1st CSC RO VII Fun run
Sept 8, 2012 Camp Lapulapu, Central Command
5k 43:15
Good thing:
my time: from 47 minutes (Y101 Armscor) to 43:15. Maybe I am faster on uphill/downhill roads.
Lots of runners participated the event.
I enjoyed my run, I sprinted in the beginning coz the road at the start was downhill, i slow jogged at uphill roads...I think that was my fastest 5k run so far (carrying a backpack)
Bad thing: This is the first time CSC organized a fun run. 1st time; Government: my expectations are low. The only reason i joined this is that i wanted to get inside camp lapu lapu.
less sleeping hours.
Taxi driver didnt know where camp lapulapu is. Good thing I decided to explore first the venue.
Parched throat attack (again). No matter how many times I drink before the run, it doesnt go away. But after the first hydration table, it quickly disappeared.
No courtesy booth. I had to run carrying my backpack. BOOO! I called the day before about the courtesy booth and the lady said that they have one. LIAR!
They ran out of virginia hotdogs ang pancakes.
I didnt win a door prize.
Will I join CSC run again: NO. Unless they have an interesting & longer route and a courtesy booth.
next: 1st race for faith. hope they have a courtesy booth.

Runnr Academy 1st Day
Sept 5 2012. Day 1.7:00 pm
I rushed to go home but as expected, there was traffic at escario. This usually happens on a wednesday and when its raining. Funny thing happened while i changed into my running gear, I wore the wrong gear. It was the gear that i prepared to wear for the CSC RO 7 run. I wasted precious minutes in changing to the right gear. It was raining when I went out of the house but when the puj reached cdu hospital, I've noticed the roads were dry. That means it only rained in guadalupe..
Overall, I was late, in a way I was glad they started on time. The old guy in charge was speaking when i came, he was talking about paced runs then showed the route of our 5k run. Marathon foodie was also there, 7 mos. preggy and all, to give encouragement to the newbies..
I joined the group of slow runners, still i was left behind when we started running..I felt I was out of shape after two days of rest, I was carrying my maong backpack and wearing my windbreaker, making hotter and harder for me. Some of the runners didnt follow the route, unfortunately there were no marshals to guide us in case someone gets lost. I just followed the girl in front of me, I'm not sure if it was the right route. I just felt it was too short for a 5k. I wanted to do a u-turn to make the run longer but rain was starting to fall so i just went back to the mall. Next time pay attention to the map. The only thing that stuck to my mind was mindanao avenue, mariott hotel, jca, union bank then back and i saw all of these in my run. The clinic will have 5 sessions, the last would be on Oct 3, just in time for the milo marathon.
p.s.. I met a familiar face, the same guy i talked to at the photobooth during the new balance run. i really dont get his jokes.

VCMC Run for Charity
Sept 2,2012 4:45 am 12k
Time: 1:46:55
Park Mall
I learned about this run when the
dean's office dessiminated the letter from vcmc via email. The first
thing that entered my mind was that I'm not gonna participate in this
run because of the venue. Still, I explored ParkMall during one
holiday when I went to the One Cebu Expo in CICC. I decided to enter
after I did y101 armscor because I felt I needed a change of venue.
Registration:
I went to VCMC on Aug 27 (it was a
holiday) and I saw the sign outside “For VCMC run registration go
to window 8”. When I went to window 8. it was closed. So I decided
to go to RaintreeMall, still no luck. Accdg to the people there,
there were no volunteers in their store for 2 weeks and they dont
know the phone number so they cannot contact them. Who wants to
register after hearing that. Then I went to Runnr Ayala to register,
unfortunately the didnt give me the singlet/race bib. The person in
charge was vague about the schedule, only told me she would text
me...yeah right..
I texted the person in charge , good
thing they replied, so I went to vcmc on friday, aug 31. I was so
lucky they found may single/race bib right away, I heard others had
to wait for an hour. Note to VCMC, get some tips from experts in this
area. We runners really dont like delays in getting our singlets
esp. working people. On friday night, an earthquake occurred. On
saturday, it was dark and raining really hard. I was worried but all
I can do is pray. I guess the heavens listened to our prayers coz the
clouds were clear on Sunday.
D day: I went out of the house at 3:40
am, my earliest so far, I wasnt really scared.. I heard some
motorbikes so there's people around.. Anyways, an old guy was
driving the trisikad, I keep signalling him that I need a ride but
he didnt react right away until I got nearer. Anyways, he told me
that some guy in a bike was following his passenger earlier. I got a
bit scared after hearing that so I told him to hurry so I can get a
taxi. I really hope those guys in motorbikes arent bad guys. I dont
really bring much with me when I run. I just keep on praying and
trust in God to protect me. I also have my umbrella, just in case I
need to whack someone.
When I arrived at Park Mall, the first
thing I searched is the courtesy booth.Would you be believe a long
line was already forming there. Grabe, bisan sa courtesy booth hinay
gihapun. By the time I left my bag, the 21k runners have already had
a gun start. (I didnt hear the guy by the way). I was surprised that
the emcee was already calling the 12k runners to assemble. Ohmygod, I
didnt have time to drink water. Btw,I decided not to use my beltbag
during the run, I only brought my wallet. I really like starting the
run early in the morning, the air is cool, no rays of sunshine
beating on your head. I didnt feel thirsty in the beginning and I
even skipped 2 water stations. Since this is my first time run in
Mandaue during the day, I tried looking around and I realized there
is really nothing much to see in mandaue. It also isnt a big place, I
passed the welcome and you're leaving sign during the run. The route
was really simple, straight, u-turn, straight, turn then return.
There wasnt much trees in the route, just uneven asphalted road.
There was a point when I ran in the middle of the road, that was
interesting. There was also part of our route when you can smell the
estero..eewww. Therefore I conclude, osmena blvd/salinas drive/cbp is
a much better route and I mean that without bias. There is one good
thing about the mandaue run, there were lots of hydration tables. As
usual, I was left behind by other runners, there was a point when we
were joined by 3k & 6K runners who mostly just walked. This was
the time when I sprinted coz I couldnt see the 12k runners, I wasnt
familiar with the route and I dont want to get lost. I finished at
1:46:55 minutes, not a good time but I'm not depressed. But when I
went to the pocari table, they ran out of pocari cans, then I got
depressed.why oh why.. I grabbed 1 hotdog and purchased 1 gatorade
orange for P35 pesos. I also got a sample of a new drink, I forgot
the name, it tastes like milk. I dont know if they had raffle prizes,
maybe they did..who cares. I also saw some people holding a giveaway
but I couldnt find the booth..maybe they left. One good thing
happened though, for the first time in joining fun run, I was able to
change my blouse/bra at the CR. Yey! It feels good to change into dry
clothes..
Will I join the VCMC next year if
there's a part 2....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh NO. I cant forgive them for
running out of pocari...hahah ang babaw.
Next week: cscro VII and race for
faith. Gud luck to me. Please pray for a nice weather.

Everyone is encouraged to take part in the fun run as its proceeds will go to an endowment fund for families of civil servants who died in the line of duty.
Brian Arquillano, senior personnel specialist of CSC-7 said the registration is until August 31. The form may be secured from the CSC-7 Regional Office or at Runner in Ayala Center Cebu.
Arquillano said the top three winners of both the 3K and 5K will receive cash prizes. For the 3K category, the top winner will get P1,500 while the second placer will be given P1,000 and the third place will get P500.
For the 5K category, the first, second and third prize winners will receive cash prizes of P2,000; 1,000; and P700 respectively.
The fun run is held in cooperation with Central Command, Cebu provincial government, Cebu City government, the municipality of Daanbantayan, Bureau of Fire Protection and other private partners, who will be giving out towels, shirts, jogging pants, sweat shirts among others for non-winners, said Arquillano.
Arquillano added they are aiming to convince 1,500 runners to join.
He said government workers who will join the fun run will be given four hours compensatory time off (CTO) as contained in CSC Memorandum Circular No. 11, series of 2012.
Interested participants may contact Brian Arquillano 4147488 for further details.

Open to all newbies and experienced runners.Come wearing your running gear. I do hope many will sign up, the more the merrier. I'm not sure how many sesssions this will be, I read it could be just 5 sessions. I'm hoping this will help me with my speed.

Y101 Armscor Run 2
August 26,2012 5:OO am Gaisano Country Mall
5k 47:38
Another long weekend of 2 fun runs. I filed my registration for the y101 armscor last july 15, thats why I'm doing the 5k. I was kinda regretting it in the beginning coz they didnt give much details, the start/finish venue was moved and most of all they ignore my email and posts in facebook & twitter.
D day: It was just another day, well at least i had more sleep this time, only the alarm woke me up. I went down and ate some oatmeal. My throat felt sore so i took 1 strepsil to cool my throat. I was suprised that there were more people outsidewhen i went out, I wasnt scared unlike before. Anyways, as expected, when I arrived at Gaisano Country Mall before 5:OO, the 21k still hasnt started. Compared to the Timex run, there were fewer funners, maybe becoz there was another fun run in Talisay. My estimate would be 600 plus. I guess this is becoz of the lack of registration venues and no tarpaulins was posted at ccsc. It also doesnt help when they dont announce other details on facebook, just the same link again and again. During the run, my throat felt parched na naman..i'm really thinking of bringing my own water in the future, maybe ice water. When we turned to TESDA, my reaction was "ohhh this place again". Wala na akong ma-comment sa run, nothing really stands out, as usual i was left behind. Anyways, what i was looking forward to was the raffle prizes, major prize was 2 motorbikes, 1 for female and 1 for male ..they were also giving out 1 technomarine watch, 2 cellphones, rubber shoes and some gift checks. When they announced the female winner of the motorbike, I was walking slowly towards the puj terminal feeling like a loser again. While looking at the signboards of the puj, the emcee suddenly announced that he was giving out minor prizes..whaaattt??!!! Still, I didnt go back to the parking lot, I decided to listen to the numbers at the terminal...and surprise surprise..they called my number 1050..twice.. I leaped over the wall and ran like an olympian..my prize was a grocery basket worth about P500 ..wooohhhooooo I was so happy..sulit na sulit... now this fun run is memorable na..the first time i won in a raffle...Thank God.. contents: 1 big can of alaska milk, 3 small bottles shampoo (2 pantene, 1 loreal), 1 vaseline soap, 2 delata (pork and beans and meat loaf), 1 small can of milk and 1 junk food.. so happy its not spaghetti ingredients..magamit nako gyud..
Snacks: 1 can coca cola lite, 1 meatroll. Citibank was giving out a bag but i had to write my name and contact number. Now i will be harrassed by them about getting a credit card..
Nega Part: When the 21k started, there wasnt any music. Dili sadya..nakulangan ko sa marshalls pero since pamilyar ra ko sa lugar, oks lang...also NO Certificate.
Will I join the y101 armscor next year: ahhhh I cant decide right now. What really attracted me to this event was the raffle prizes. I guess swerte ko kay gamay ra ang participants maunang nakakuha ug minor prize. There's really too many runs scheduled in cebu, the running community are getting exhausted and and getting poorer hehe
next run: not sure pa sa VCMC on sept 2, but definitely CSC RO Run on September 8.2012
I Ran My Part: Night Race for the Flood Victims
Sat August 25, 2012 8:00 -10pm CDU Mandaue City
6k 47:37
Its 10:15 pm, I really need an early rest for the Y101 armscor run but i have to write this down first.
I made a panata to join at least one race organized by Run for Sight (Yong Larrazabal) and lo and behold the opportunity came. It was wednesday when after constant googling, I learned about this night race so i went on Thursday at CDU hospital to register. I was so pumped up about this, my first run in Mandaue City.
D Day: It was another hot day, there was a bit of rainfall at 4:00 pm but it ended quickly. I couldnt relax so I changed by 6:00pm and went out 6:45, 1 hour allowance for travel. I arrived at CDU at 7:30pm and they were still not finished setting up, I was kinda disappointed with that. But they started on time, thats a relief, both 3 & 6k started at the same time. I was a bit worried coz i had no idea about the route. Since I was a slow runner, I always get left behind, and this one was no exception. Since there were lots of turns, I sometimes find myself alone in the road. There was a brick road where there was 100% no lights, only the marshall wearing a blinker which doesnt help illuminate the place. I was so lucky I brought my own flashlight, much better than a blinker. Since there were no lights, I had a hard time with uneven areas of the road. Also, I had to ask the marshals for directions just to be sure since i lost sight of the other runners, not knowing the route was really frustrating.. i felt we were going in circles. I do remember the place where i practiced my driving..felt nostalgic that time. When I was almost the finish line, I was trying to read the time. I was so surprised to see the no. 4 in the time... as in 47 minutes.. My last 6K was 55 minutes, can you believe that difference.. if i didnt keep asking for directions or stopped to take out my flashlight, i could have saved 1 minute. It made the end of my run so satisfying. Thank you Lord. I think I'm ready for 12k, VCMC Park Mall, here i come hehe
Snacks: 1 bottle pocari, meat roll and free sabong panlaba. no certificate.
Will i enter a night race again?: Right now my answer is No. Maybe this will change next year.
Since i was new to the area, I was having a problem finding a taxi afterwards. Mingaw man, daghang tambay. I honestly didnt feel safe. I was planning to go to S & R but i decided to cross to the other side of the street. Then suddently one taxi stopped on the other side of the road, so i had to cross again. I was so scared coz other taxis/vehicles were going by fast. When i finally got inside the taxi, the driver told me not to do that again, he was scared for me. I was on the highway and it wasnt an ideal place to look for a taxi. MEMO to myself: next time you go to CDU at night, go to S & R to get a taxi.
its 10:35 pm. tomorrow y101 armscor run.
update: 8-25-12 11:50 am
i spoke too soon. my 5k time at the y101 armscor run was 47:38. That means either the night race 6k route was too short or the timer was broken. I go with the former, the route really felt short.

1st Cebu City Heritage Run
Plaza Independencia Aug 21, 2012
6K est. time 58 minutes
The tarpaulin of the heritage run was posted just a week before Aug 21, such a short notice. I'm so glad I regularly jog at CCSC. I decided to join becoz 1. Registration fee is only P100 with souvenir shirt.2 I like the location of the run, from plaza, mj cuenco , colon, robinsons, city hall , sto. nino. then finish line. The colon st. is not an ideal place to run becoz its such a narrow & busy area, so this is an opportunity for me to run there. Since the registration fee is cheap, i was expecting the worst, i was even expecting to run with my backpack.Thank God somebody volunteered their vehicle to be a courtesy booth. Number of participants was lesser than I anticipated, i guess its becoz of it wasnt really announced in the newspapers. My guess, the paying runners are about 500. If you count the 3k participants, those that didnt pay, it will would probably reach about 800.
Good points:
I like the route. Some of the hydration stations have slightly cold water. Water was given at the starting point, thats a big plus for me.
They gave 1 virginia hotdog. wow! They used the leftover cups and turning point ties (pisi) from timex, recycled the milo warning signs but thats okey with me. I had a satisfying run, truly. They also had big prizes but mark my words, i doubt they will give it during racing day. Just like any other government office, paperwork must be done before checks are issued.
Not so Good Points. 2nd day of menstruation. ugggg
No Timer. How was I supposted to know my official time? I had to depend of my wristwatch bu unfortunately, I forgot to look at my watch during gun start. Est time: less than an hour
The 6k started just 3 minutes after the 15 k. They announced 7 and 15k distances but actually its 3k, 6k, 15k. They didnt bother to make corrections in the tarpaulin, even the emcee got confused. Most of all NO CERTIFICATE. grrrr
Will i join next year's heritage run. If its still P100 registration fee, Yup, definitely.
next: y101 Armcor 2
Timex Run Cebu
Aug 19 2012
10K 1:26 5:30
Venue: in front of CNU, Cebu City Sports Center
My first run in Osmena Blvd. and I'm so excited. I had no problem getting a ride, trisikad and tax. Wala na diay guardiya grrrrr
There were a lot of runners present despite of another run in Mandaue for CDU UR7 and i'm so proud of the Cebuanos, the running people are showing their force. the warmup from goldsgym people was ok,. They had water available at the starting line. For the past 2-3 weeks there's a heatwave here in Cebu and this day was no exception. I had a hard time becoz of the heat, I had to do some walkingy. i particularly didnt like the N. Bacalso St., there were already lots of vehicles there and I didnt feel safe. I passed 2 flywovers and 2 skywalks, turning point was 200 m farther away from Shopwise. I'm so happy to report that i finished 10K in 1:26, which was my target. Hydration was great, no shortage, i passed by 5 hydration tables.
Now the bad news:
I didnt see Team Pangilinan, Just saw Rio who shot the gun, he looked serious and sleepy.
There was a couple runner who was hit by vehicle. I actually saw 3 ambulances while running at Englis Road, near N. Bacalso. That was scary.
NO FOOD!! NO RAFFLE GIVEAWAY. Well there was a booth where you pick a prize but i -wasnt able to go there coz I was so hungry. C2-500 ml at the canteen costs P30. WHAAATTTT! Ang mahal ng registration fee, couldnt they provide the runners some bananas.
Spent a lot of time to have my picture taken. I finished the race a little past 7am, i went home almost 10 am. grabeeee..
Will i join the Timex RUn next year: DEFINITELY NO. Davao, be warned. But i had not regrets, i really wanted to join this one in preparation for the Milo Marathon which has a cutoff time of 1:30 10k
I was thinking of joining the Philsan 15k, but after this run, I changed my mind. I am not ready. Next run Heritage Run
Red Cross Cebu Race to Humanity
July 29,2012 8k 1: 12
Sumilon Road, CBP
This is my first fun run located in sumilon road in cbp, sounds easy to find...ahhhh nope. I tried googling online for the map of cebu business park couldnt I find it. So before I decided to register, I tried a little exploring first. For those who doesnt know where it is, its behind CIC. If you are exploring in CBP, just look for the pioneer building. There's a construction going on after the pioneer building, that would be a future landmark. If your going thru gorordo, look for JCA pizza, cardinal rosales avenue cor gorordo, straight ahead lang. One of my usual problems in going to fun runs is the constant threat of rain and this is no exception. According to the weather news, “may namumuong low pressure area na posibleng maging bagyo”..na naman..hoboyyy. Rains started on fridays, I was getting nervous. Unfortunately, saturday was a full day for me. First swimming, then voting for the plebiscite (division of banawa-englis from guadalupe), then went back to office to drop my stuff, then tour the sumilon road again, then grocery shopping...my feet was working overtime and I was already feeling pain.
D day
As usual,I couldn sleep to I went down at 3:00 am to eat some peanuts and drink water. Then I started preparing na by 3:30 am, did some stretching and waited. Then my worst fear happened, it began showering rain again. So I prepared my short-sleeve windbreaker and other stuff stuffed in my new and cheap backback (with a red ribbon tied). I went out at 4:45 am, and found a taxi just near narra apartment. Now that was quick swerte. As expected, the driver doesnt know where sumilon road is, its a good thing I did my exploring...Taxi fare was P82.00, thats okey since I didnt ride the trisikad. When I arrived at the venue, I was so happy to see lots of people there despite the taligsik a nd they already started the warm up. I saw a married couple with a kid preparing for the event, ahhh so sweet. There was no countdown, and no timer for the 4K. Dili pud back to back ang timer sa 8k. Since it was still showering (and its cold), I decided to wear my short sleeved windbreaker during the run for the first time. But when we started to run, the rain stopped..wow! Thats a relief..Thank God.
As usual, I had a hard time in the first 3k, I felt I wanted to pee..saw dog poop ewww...but when I saw the turning point in lahug, before the skywalk in usp, suddenly everything changed.. Parang ang gaan ng feeling, maaliwalas..everything became easy for me when I returned to the finish line. Still, I was a bit disappointed by my time, its so super duper consistent, no improvement at all . I need to finish the 10k (for the milo marathon on oct 7) in 1:30 min or less coz its the cutoff time. I decided to go home by 7:45 am becoz it was starting to shower again, I need to rest so I can go to church at 11:00 and say may thanks. I really had a full weekend despite the weather,
Comments:
Mas okey ang pag-organize. Distribution of food is split so less longer lines. Late ang start ng 5 minutes but its understandable becoz of the weather. The venue is okey kaso walang chairs. After the run I badly needed to sit down, kaya next time bring plastic. One thing I hate was they already started the raffle when I arrived..what if my number was already picked.
Food: 2 small pandesal; 1 virginia hotdog, 1 bottle pocari, 1 tetra pack juice, 3-4 chips(marty's crackling). There's also free oishi juice pero I didnt get some.
Will I join the Red cross next year?: Yup! Maybe 16k or 12k or 10k. I heard they plan another fun run later this year so wait and see na lang..
next: Timex Run 10k (scared na me, I have 2 weeks to prepare). Plan to run sa dalan
Sonshine Radio Half Marathon 2
July 22, 2012 Ayala Terraces
6 K Time Finished:55 minutes
b4 the event:
I had one weekend off from fun run so I did some shopping. bought 2 pairs of running shoes, 1 nike, and 1 new balance (used my 20% discount stub from nb fun run) also bought some gear. 1 shirt doesnt fit me, 1 filia shirt is too tight at the chest.hhhmmm
since its lightweight, i used my nb shoes for running on tuesdays and thursdays. Sad to say, i was feeling a bit of pain in my legs after a thursday run. I googled the internet and learned about the middle foot strike so i became conscious of my form, posture and where i place my foot. On July 21, i did some swimming...i love the water.
D day
the night before the run, i couldnt sleep, my throat hurts and my nose was running..hooboy..not good. i had to go downstairs at 3:00 am to drink hot water. didnt need my alam clock/cp to wake up so i just took a shower and dressed for the run, and waited. The gunstart for 6k was supposed to be 5:30am so i decided to go out at 4:25 am. Thats the last time i will register for a fun run that early. I arrived after 4:30,but the run hasnt been started yet. The gun start was late for 15 minutes. There were lots of running groups supporting the event. After running for about 100 meters, 2 people fell down, i dont know why... as usual, the first few minutes run were the hardest. I wrongly interpreted the map so i just followed where the runners were going. The 6k had only 2 water stations and the first one was so far..why is that?. Turning point was JY square, it was easy for me at that point. Performancewise, i felt i was faster but when i saw the time, i was disappointed. i still havent improved my speed..Its still about 7-8 km per kilometer. I really should stop being bothered by my personal time.
Some comments:
the people at the courtesy booth had a hard time finding my backpack. next time tie a red ribbon.
even if i bought 2 new running shoes, i still stick to my old adidas (walking shoes) for fun runs. i never felt pain in my knees afterwards
naglaway ko sa medal for 21K, but i dont see myself doing long distance. hanggang 12 ka ang pangarap ko...maybe 16k kung naay pldt-smart 10 miler run. feeling nako, wala nay tawo inig abot nako sa finish line hehe
Food: 1 big puso, 2 small lumpia shanghai, 1 saging, 1 pocari bottle.
dako ang ilahang cerfication, it pains me to fold it pero wala gyud koy mahimo. they had some photographers taking some pics, hope they took mine.
Lessons learned: bring your own bottled water. they only give 1 bottle at the event and its never enough. The problem with ayala/cbp venue is that there are no street vendors. You just have to depend on whats given to you for sustenance.
if possible: get enough sleep
next run: Red Cross 8k (i'm scared hehe)
2012: The Year I decided To Run
This year 2012 I've decided to join fun runs, i didnt research to prepare for it , just went in blindly. I made some mistakes, learned new stuff thats why i need to write things down to remind myself.
First of all, last Nov2011, may blood test showed i have high cholesterol and the school doctor advised me to either take some pills or shape up meaning diet and exercise. Of course i chose the latter. I must admit i was depressed in hearing my results.I've been walking at ccsc during weekends since 2009 and its been years since i eat oatmeals for breakfast (which i hate) . All the effort for nothing. so i waited, then i saw the tarpaulin of UP High Fun Run 2 scheduled on June 10. After so much thinking, i registered 3 days before the event for 3K. I wasnt prepared, in fact i only ran 3 laps at ccsc and declared myself ready. Big Mistake No. 1- Do not run the day before the event. Mistake no. 2, easy on the warm up, dont overdo it, stretching is good. My time was under 40 minutes and i walked most of the way ..bohooo..
Review of UP High Alumni Fun Run: No free bottled water (boooo!) but you can get food as many times as you want. so far its the only fun run that offered bananas and unlimited ham hehe. There's separate time for each category. No bag counter ( i dont mind this one since i work there so i just changed inside the office). Raffle prizes are picked in advance and there's no cash prize for the winners. There were lots of runners there so i guess it was succesful. They issue certificates. Since i'm scared of going out of the house at dawn, it took a lot of prayers before i went out of the door. Mistake no. 3, ride the pedicab next time to crown regency to get a taxi..wohooo..
Will I join UP High Fun Run next year: Yup, panata ko na iyan. kung naa pay 12 K, i will join this one next year.
2nd Fun Run: Mapre Insular Go Run for Road Safety: July 1 2012 Ayala Terraces 3K
After my pathetic performance in my first run, i had three weeks to prepare for this. I did some research and decided to run 3 times a week, 2 times during week days. I tried to run on Wednesday but i had difficult time getting a PUJ, so i had to ride twice, 14D then 06B. After that, its Tuesdays and Thursdays na, i'm so glad up to 8pm ang courtesy booth sa CCSC. So far wala pa koy experience nga nauubusan sila ug space, thank God. There are lots of runners at CCSC at night at may hataw pa. Music really helps me during a run esp. 80's disco music. One time nag-taligsik, nag-dala kug payong while walking one lap. Mauna pirmi kuyaw sa jogging, if the weather cooperates.
What happened on July 1. Konting rainshowers during the whole run, I was debating with myself if i would bring an umbrella. Since the gunstart is 5:30, 4:45 am nako nigawas, it took only 15 minutes ride to ayala terraces. Since Mapre was inviting public school elementary students, daghang tawo, badlungon pa gyud ang mga bata.
Review: Strict sa food, this time you get the food once lang. Nay hotdog, bread, chips and pocari. There was a bag counter but i didnt bring my bag so nauga na lang ag singot. Naa pud CR but i dont know where it is. I ran the whole 3 K, layo pa ang turning point my throat was really parched. I tried to swallow but it just keep getting worse, pero nakaya lang gyud nako, i just had to cough sometimes. I was surprised since i survived 10 laps at the ccsc without water, i dont know what happened. There was only 1 clock so i dont know my time. they have separate refreshment lines for 3k, and other categories
Lessons Learned: Prehydrate before the run. Eat some skyflakes 2 hours before the run. Dont shout, carefull sa pag-inum ug cold water basin ubhon.
Will I join the Mapre Run next Year: ahhh NO, unless gamay ra ang sked sa fun runs located sa cebu city
New Balance 10 K series: 5K July 8 2012
Now I have more experience, so I was able to finish it in 47 minutes bisan first time sa 5K, oks lang..no. 132 out of 235 females. No certificates issued but there was a photobooth. They gave us a bag which contained 1 meat roll, 2 chips, rainbow colored shoelaces. They gave us 1 bottle of pocari and 1 viva. There was another long line which i later learned is the photobooth.I was eating my snacks while waiting for my turn. One bad thing that happened was I took the wrong bag after my picture was taken. I was able to return it to the real owner when i realized minutes after that my picture was in that bag..grrrr... ang ending, i had my picture taken again. The photobooth was already closing pero i was able to get my new pic. They said they will upload it in facebook..yeah right, they uploaded only 120 pics..figures...
Comments: Mahal ang registration fee P450.00 but the shirt is nice , the food is not.1 meatroll was not really filling to the stomach.
Will I join NB Again: ahhhh NO, unless wala nay laing alternative. Pero I'm not gonna have my picture taken again... NO cerfificates btw.
I've registered 3 more fun runs (6K, 5k and 10K) I'll post my experience here later. I'm still thinking about the Red Cross to be held at Sumilon Road. I explored that area, I'll go back there next weekend. They have 4k, 8k and 16 K. di ko pwede sa 4K, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for 8k. still thinking.
I was hoping to join the smart-pldt 10 miler pero postponed man way klaro. MILO is oct, sure na yan, wala palay registration sa cebu
There's a new ordinance passed last February limiting the no. of fun runs and increasing the fees, ang resulta, less fun runs scheduled in cebu city. some are held na in mandaue and in provinces.
Tips I learned:
1. tell someone if you have a scheduled fun run. i dont like telling my mom so i just write it down. akong giingnan ang akong ginugos ug silingan. sad to say, wala koy support from my mom (disappointed but not suprised)
2. prepare 1 P50 peso bill, 2 P20, 2 10 peso coins and some loose change for puj ride, dont bring much. i also bring my old prc ID just in case
3. rest the whole day before the event, SLEEP (although i get less sleep coz i get nervous)
4. run 3 times a week.
5. prepare your gear the day before. I use my soen sports bra for fun runs only. less bounce sa chest, i like it. as much as possible, dont wear anything flashy. wear a cheap watch. familiarize the route.
6. Most important. PRAY! I asked my inaanak to pray for me. hope he keeps his promise.
Right now i'm planning to buy a small flashlight and bring a bag next time.
Plans for next year:
12 K (haha ambisyosa)
will i join a running club?.. still thinking. there used to be a call for a running club in our barangay. i tried to google it pero wala gyud sila sa official list. there's a club sa istorya.net
join the cebu city marathon 2012 (kung naay 5 or 10 k) held 1 week before sinulog. I heard good things about it.
i hope and pray that i would continue running, that its not just a phase. I keep praying for no rains during my run. what will happen if it rains during a fun run, i really dont know, i guess i just make ligo na lang he he. I also pray for my safety since kadlawn man intawn. thanks for the sikad and taxi drivers who are out there, apil na ang security guard nga nagbantay sa 3 houses among subdivision, ayaw katulog undong hehe. i bring my rosary everytime i join the fun run, it keeps me calm.I hope i can join the big fun runs, mayta dili sa mandaue ang venue...fingers crossed
