Bohol International Marathon 2015

August 30 2015 Island City Mall
2:00 a.m. 42K 9 hours 25 minutes (unofficial)
Stayed at Panda Tea Garden Suites
Weather: Humid at dawn, full moon; Hotness during the day.

2 Years ago I promised myself not to do a 42k and I will only run 21k for out of Cebu venues. Well, last June 2015, I changed my my mind. When I saw the starting venue is at Tagbilaran City and the gun start is 2 a.m. For BIM 2015, I asked myself, why not? Consider this medal as a b-day gift to myself. So I registered thru race.ph, paid the registration fee, then booked a room in Panda Tea Garden Suites. I have more than a month to train, easy peasy. Gosh, How wrong I was. During the month of June, I joined 3 fun runs as part of the training. Unfortunately on the month of July, there wasnt much fun runs to join so I decided to just jog on Sundays, and swim on Saturdays. Then I got sick, which is normal when my period is near plus rains on July which prevented me to run.

I realized my body wasnt ready for long distance run when I joined the UR10 25k last August 23, 2015. I got tired easily, less than halfway of the route, I was walking more than running. I was already having second thoughts. Shall I join the 42k with this unprepared body? Bahala na, hinay hinay nalang hangtud mahuman. So I packed my bags, said a lot of prayers then travelled to Bohol via Oceanjet (again) 8:00 trip. After arrival, I road a trike (fare P30) to get to ICM. ICM is the biggest mall in Bohol. After getting my race pack, I went window shopping, browsed thru the shops then bought some stuff. The hotel was just near the mall but still I rode a trike because of my bags. Checking in was not a problem, my room was the only 1 available that time. Thanks Estelle. I went in the room then the first thing I asked the porter is to turn on the TV because I want to watch Eat Bulaga. Yey! Aldub fever hehe. After EB, I went back to ICM to familiarize the way, then bought some supplies. I forgot to bring my toothbrush and Omega...grrrr

I had a hard time sleeping so I busied myself posting twitter stuff to help in the Aldub hastag MaidenHeaven to reach the 3M status. Seriously, I needed a distraction so this helped me calm my nerves. After I prepared all my running stuff, I tried to sleep again, at least I slept 2 hours. Then I woke up at 11 p.m. I realized I forgot to take a bath earlier....grrrr … Since it was too cold to take a shower, I just washed my face and legs then got ready for my running gear. This time I decided not to use my backpack. I used my blue belt bag and placed 2 small water bottles, 4small chocolates, 1 lipovitan, shades, hanky etc. I brought my pink arm sleeves but decided not to wear them because it was too humid.

I arrived at the starting line before 1 a.m. I was just sitting on the stairs, thinking, singing, creating scenarios of the meeting of the aldub.. Sorry, I just cant get the aldub fever out of my mind, I really need to distract my brain because the thought of running 42k really scared me.

The gun start started on time. Based on my calculation, there are about 200 runners in the 42k. Lots of tagalog speaking runners. My thoughts that time is that I'm gonna be the last finisher again. I met 2 runners from Cebu who greeted me during the run. Hi guys! My pace was slow, I was aiming to reach the 21 turnaround point before the 21k runners reach me. After 7 kilometers, I reached the Dauis bridge, I was the only one on the road. Thats okey, running on a bridge and looking at the sea is really soothing. The playlist on my mind was “ I'll never go far away from you” from the movie One more chance. It was really humid and my shirt and jogging pants was already wet with sweat. I really appreciate the distance signage every 2k. It really helped me a lot in my planning. I stopped in every water station to get water and to give myself a splash. My plan for this run was not to stop. Resting for me is to continue walking. I have to reach the turning point before 6 a.m. The route to panglao is familiar to me because I ran the route last year. I'm so glad I reached the goal, in 4 yours I was already 4k after the turning point. I can see the sun starting to rise. I was dreading the heat. Initially, I was the 3rd to the last runner. Then the supposedly last runner, went passed me after 4 kilometers. He was from Bacolod and according to him, he arrived 3 a.m. and had no sleep. So there I was, slow jog, then walk, slow jog again. Then I passed by other runners who are resting. Omygosh, I am no longer the second to the last runner. Whatta joy..Just keep on doing the slowjog slash walk. Honestly, I dont feel much pain on my feet but I do feel tired. I keep thinking to myself, Where's the bridge? When I reach the bridge, I will walk the rest of the way. I keep following this girl in blue because I dont know the route going back to ICM after the bridge, I dont know where to turn. It was really hot when I reached the bridge. I feel my arms getting hot and red. I just keep dousing myself with water, ice, foam, whatever I can use. The last 10k was really the toughest for me. I keep telling myself, this will be your last 42k, so just keep going on. You can do this. When I saw the ICM mall, I felt so much joy in my heart. Finally the finish line is so near. I can do this. Finally, I have another 42k medal in my collection. My body is tired and weak but its so worth it. Thank You Lord. Congratulation Bohol Runners Club. I had a great time. I just wish next time the gunstart is 12 midnight so the runners can avoid the heat. But this is it for me, my last Bohol run. Where's the next out of Cebu run? I havent decided yet.

Snacks: 1 bread with corned beef filling, 1 banana, 1 pocari, boiled egg and water.
Meals on the road: bbq, hotdog, bread, pocari
Note to myself: Terminal fee Cebu P25, Tagbilaran P15. Had to drink 1 Alaxas FR before going on a trip to Cebu because of the pain
I forgot to take a picture on my finishers shirt. But here are the pics I took

Less students in the hydration stations. The  start/finish timer was marquee was already removed. My backback was transferred to Sapro where everyone was asleep. The snacks in charge already left. Filing renewal of PRC ID at PRC office in Mandaue, SUCCESS

7/14/2015

Thank God my 2nd attempt to renew my PRC ID is a success. I arrived at HVG Arcade Subangdaku Mandaue City at 6:00 a.m. and there were already about 70 people waiting in line. Taxi ride was P85.50. But I wasnt worried, since most of them are filing for upcoming exams. The worst thing is just the waiting. So I just talked to the people beside me. I guess I was the only one wearing a corporate attire Ha Ha. At 7:15 a.m. the guards opened the door but we had to wait again since office starts at 8:00 a.m. They made me fill up a slip form for renewal. When the lady in charge arrived, I was the first person to give my papers. After a 5 minute wait, she gave me a printed form. Checked  the entries and spelling for errors, Affixed my Signature then went to the cashier to pay. No numbers were released so I just went to the window and submitted my payment. The whole thing lasted about 10 minutes. Fee is P450.00

Release of my PRC ID will be on July 23. I'm so excited.

Update: SUCCESS!

Got my ID on July 23, 2015 at past 1 p.m.  Printing of ID is done upon claiming of ID. There were lots of people lining at the cashier. Good thing I filed my renewal so early in the morning.

I'll be back on Aug 2018.

My Attempts to File for Renewal for PRC ID at SM Cebu. FAILURE

7/13/205

I'm writing this down to inform any professionals out there trying to renew their PRC licenses at SM Malls.

First of all, ever since I heard that PRC Cebu is transferring to Mandaue, I've made my decision to try to renew my PRC license at SM Cebu. This was a year ago. I dropped by SM to familiarize myself with the location first.
My prc license will expire on Aug 12 2015 so I went to SM on July 9 2015 to inquire about the requirements. Unfortunately, the computers were off-line so I just noted down the requirements.

First of all, you need to wear a formal attire. A corporate attire with collar will do.

1. Fill up 1 copy of the request form. They didnt accept my dowloaded form
2. Original and photocopy (back to back) of PRC ID
3. 1 passport size colored picture with complete name tag (not digital, meaning bring bondpaper with your name written at the ID picture shop. I went to Ayala Center, near DigiHub)
4. Payment
On saturday, July 10 I went to SM wearing my best corporate suit and brought my requirements.
Unfortunately (again) I was informed that they cannot enter my request in the system since my PRC license has not yet expired.  A big BOOOO!!! I didnt see that in the PRC site and even from other blogs.  I had to go home and change to a more comfortable apparel.

Tomorrow , my adventure with PRC starts again at Subangdaku, Mandaue City.  Reminder to myself, bring paste and liquid eraser.

I shall write down what happened after tomorrow. I pray it will be a successful day. Good luck to me.

3rd Run for the Rivers

June is fully booked with Fun Runs every Sunday. Last June 28, I joined 10k for Run for the Rivers.
Time: 1 hr 34 Minutes
Venue: SM Parking Lot
Weather: Nice weather.
Comments: Started late.

The first Run for the Rivers is memorable for me because its my first 21k. The cutoff time was 3 hrs and I went over. I almost got lost and by the time I arrived, they already dismantled the start/finish line. I had to beg the lady to give me my the finishers medal. Hence the reason  I joined only the 10k. For the love of the Rivers of  Cebu .

Weather: Raining

I feel so tired and sleepy. After my 21k run, I did laundry then went out again to work overtime. All I can say about this run, it reminded me of the rainy Cebu City marathon in 2013. Well it really wasnt as bad as the CCM. I guess I should get used to the rain by now. Oh well, my body now gets tired easily but still, I am determined to continue running. Bahala nag pirming last finisher hehe

Road to Vigan: My Summer 2015 story

Pic with the gang

Ever since Vigan became one of the 7th wonders of the world, I've been wanting to go there. I honestly dont know where it is or how to get there. Luckily, some of my co-workers also wanted to go to Vigan so they organized the trip and invited others to join. There are 16 of us who confirmed to join the longest road trip to Vigan.

April 30,2015

I brought my back packand change of clothes with me at the office. I still worked in the morning but at noon, I went out to eat lunch, then bought my fave mcdonald double cheese burger for my dinner later. When I arrived back at UP, I changed my clothes and went out to take a taxi at 2:30 pm. It was difficult to get a ride. After 30 minutes, I finally got lucky. The ride going to the airport was slow because of the heavy traffic. I guess everyone is going out on vacation on a long weekend.

I finally arived at Mactan airport then started the waiting game. Yup the flight was delayed for 40 minutes. My co-officemates were having fun taking pics. At 7:00 pm, we boarded the plane. I ate my burger during the plane ride. The moment we landed, I informed them that we will meet at the CR. It took about 20 minutes for them to finish at CR Then out we go, looking for the van to take us on a long road trip to Vigan. I'm guessing it was past 9:00 pm when we boarded the van. There was traffic on the road, but it was expected and tolerable.AT the first stop, we tried to get some food. The fastfood that we entered only had lugaw and chicken so I ordered one.
When we arrived to board the van, there was a delay. The driver, Jun, informed us that 2 vans will be following us since the driver are newbies. They had to transfer some passengers so we had a long wait.

May 1
The road trip to Vigan took so many hours. I slept a bit. We saw some road accidents along the way. We had some stops but unfortunately, there was no time to eat breakfast and lunch. We have to make do with our baon. Our driver said that lunch will be at hidden garden. We stopped by at Jolibee but Jun didnt want out to get out. He was heading towards Hiddent garden when he realized the convoy wasnt with us so he stopped and waited. That was the last draw for me since we were tired and hungry and its not fair for us to wait for them so we told Jun that we dont want to wait anymore. Actually, Jun got lost while trying find the restaurant. When we got there, which was after 12 noon, we had to wait in line since the restaurant was full. 14 Hours to get to Hidden garden grabehhh and still we couldnt eat. Fortunately, some of the customers gave up and went out so we got another number and was able to get a seat in 15 minutes. All of us were so hungery. I was so excited to eat Bagnet. Btw, I wasnt impressed with the bagnet, it was dripping with fat.

After we ate, we had a picture taking session at the garden then we are off for the Vigan tour which includes Heritage Village and Baluarte. There was so little time so we went to Laoag to check in JCF transient homes. The driver also didnt know where to find our accomodation so we got lost AGAIN.

We had 2 rooms, good for 8 people. It has a sala, TV, electric fan, dining table, rice cooker, stove, refrigerator, plates, spoon/fork, glass etc. There's also a convenience store next to the pension house. Our home sweet home. I was given a set of keys, made of of 4 keys including 1 for the gate. We went to the next room to eat dinner. It was a fun night for everyone. Somebody borrowed the key from me since they cannot lock the door without the key.

May 2 Laoag Tour

I woke up at 4 am to take a bath. I realized that the key was not on the table where I saw the night before. The driver will pick us up at 6 am so we had to hurry. I woke up the people who are still asleep and changed clothes. We had a new driver, Rey who is also the owner of the van. We informed Rey of our experience with Jun and he told us that things will be different from now on. First Stop Breakfast with coffee and vigan's longonisa. Then we went to churces, museums, sinking bell, windmills, rock formation . In the afternoon, the place with the miraculous water and Pagudpud beach. I had fun swimming by myself . I thought this was the highlight of the trip. In the evening, we had free dinner eating traditional ilocano food. Then we stopped by some stalls to buy onions, garlic and salt.

When we got back at the pension house, I told them to find the key. Halughugin lahat ng plastic and bag. Good news! The key was in Flor's backpack. Watta way to end the day. I tried to sleep but I couldnt so I watched Your face sounds familiar and made some chika 'till 11 pm

May 3 Paoay Sand Dunes, Sand Boarding then back to Vigan
I woke up 4:30 am and took a shower. We were planning to go to church at 5 am. So we took a tricycle ride going to church but unfortunately the mass has already started and it was in Ilocano so di kami maka relate. Oh well, I guess we tried. We were walking going back to the pension house so we took some pics. Then jogged about 300 meters so we wont be late. Rey will pick us up at 6 a.m. When we arrived, everyone is still asleep, ohhh bummer.
I thought Pagudpud was the best part of the trip but I was wrong. It was the Paoay sand dunes. Initially I didnt want to go since 1 trip costs P2,500. But since it took us 14 hours to get to Ilocos, might as week go full blast tourist mode. GMA7 local news crew were there to interview us. I'm not really sure they aired our interview. So there we go, It was like riding the roller coaster with all the screams and thrills. We had stopovers and took some pictures with the Panday statue and Nora Aunor himala statue. We did the traditional jump shots and did some sandboarding. It was such a hot day. After Paoay, we ate breakfast then went back to the pension house. We were given only 20 minutes to pack our bags and freshen up. We will be going to Vigan to shop for souvenirs and take some pictures so It was going to be a full day for us . I decided just to change my clothes and not to take a shower anymore.

So we are off to Vigan to visit places we missed and that includes Marcos highway, Malacanang of the North, Batac etc Rey is a much better driver, having stopovers at gasoline stations so we can use the CR. We also made stops at some sights to take some pics. He also has the van continuously checked. He also knows the shortcuts and how to avoid traffic. It was a smooth ride going back to Manila.
May 4 Going back to Cebu
We arrived at NAIA 3 at 2 pm. We had a problem with our baggage so we had to purchase 30 kilos more for our pasalubong. We finished the check in at 4 pm. I had to change clothes and tried to eat breakfast. It was the fastest breakfast I ever had since our flight was already boarding when I just started eating. Sayang ang naiwan kong tapa.

Overall, the trip was a fun roller coaster ride, with its ups and downs. I really enjoyed it, no regrets, even the getting lost part. It just adds more story to tell, better than the picture taking story. What I love the most, going to church, swimming and sand dunes. I'm not really a fan of taking pictures of the view, so those 3 things just made up my summer. I officially declare that 2015 is my best summer ever.

Island Hopping in Lapulapu. Best Summer Ever

April 18.2015
Meeting Place: in front of Maribago blue Waters
Islands Visited: guilotongan, kaawhagan, sulpa & olango island

Its my first time  to do island hopping and it was so much fun. I only took 2 pictures because I'm only interested in getting into the water. I like pics but only to document the event, so 2 pics will do.
First isla: didnt like it. Current was too strong, the waters deep. I was a bit annoyed of the water pulling me.

Second isla: The best for recreational  swimmers like me. It was waist deep and sandy, Although the heat was intense. Safe place to take off your slippers. Also the best place to take your kids. love it.

third Island. There was current and choppy waves and Tuyom, lots of it. The good side, fishes under the sea.

Fourth Island: In the beginning, we didnt like it so we decided to go further into the fish sanctuary. We had to pay P50 each. Worth it with all the fishes that you can see. THis is the only island that I decided to wear the vest because the water is deep and the waves were a bit strong. I slowly maneuvered into the shallow water. There were sharp corals and lots of bato. The best part: FISHES!!!!!

2 years ago, I joined 10k for the Philhealth Run. It was obvious they werent prepared for the run, so many things to complain about. Now, things are different. Gatorade, banana and chocalate stations. There was a pakwan station pero di naabutan.  Sumptious breakfast. Lots of freebies. Galing.  One thing I didnt like is my pic. I really look fat. Last time I'm going to wear that green shirt on a fun run. GRRR. My TIME is  still is still consistent, still slow..ohhhwellll

I really look fat here
