Happy 2015 Everyone

The sun is shining and I'm in bed with a cold after my swim this morning. I think I'm allergic to chlorine.  Usually  I'm okey after a few hours, but this time, the sneezing just wont go away so I had to take some meds.

I would like to wish a Happy New Year to everyone. I honestly dread Jan 5, the first day of work but I need to have a positive approach on this.  I wish for a better year in 2015. Hopefully less rush/urgent work. I hope I can catch up with my backlog. I hope and pray to continue running esp. outside Cebu. I pray for my safety everytime I run. God Bless Everyone!

Mandaue Foam's Run for the Planet (My 16th 21k)

Dec. 28, 2014 (originally Dec. 7) Ayala Terraces
4:30 a.m. 3:18
Weather: Cold and Windy.

To be honest, I wasnt in the mood to run. Tis the season to be lazy since the weather is cold and there's LPA somewhere in Mindanao. But I'm glad I did, I really need the exercise. Overall, the run was okey, aside from the usual cold water stations, they also provided gatorade, bananas, chocolate and ice cold foams. I love running during a cold windy weather. The only bummer on this run is that I didnt get the finishers medal. They ran out of medals and since I'm a slow runner, I'm one of the unlucky ones. I sent them a DM thru facebook edited. See below. I have lost hope in getting the medal. So Lessons Learned.

Dear Mandaue Foam:

My name is Jan, a participant in the 21k Run for the Planet held this morning (Racebib #05). This is to inform you that:

  • On November 30, 2014, before I registered for the Run for the Planet, I asked the in-charge twice if a finishers medal will be given at the end of the race and she answered yes.
  • On this morning's run, after running the whole 21k course , when I arrived at the finish line I was given a letter because they ran out of the finishers medal. See attached pic. I have been running since 2012 and this is my 16th 21k, this is the first time that I was not given a finishers medal at the finish line. .
  • I was annoyed and disappointed that I was not given my medal. Had I known that the medal produced was not enough for those who registered for the 21k, I would have registered in 12k. I believe I was misinformed. Since I have trust issues, I do not believe what has been stated in your letter.
  • If such a medal exists for us slow runners, may I request that it will be delivered to my office when it is available. I did my part in the payment and running the 21k route, you failed in giving us the medal. Its the least you can do. Since I have a job and next year will be a busy time for accountants, I cannot inconvenience myself and the office by skipping work to get the medal.
Thanks and Happy New Year.

Family Bonding on Christmas Eve

Aside from the food, the most awaited part on Christmas Eve parties is the distribution of gifts. Most of my nephews & nieces are grownups so we just give them cash. Still, they are all excited for this moment.  The oldies  are also bankrupt after the this hehe.. Well as long as they are happy and my mom is happy. Enjoy  the cash pamangkins and see yah next year.

United Statement Run

Dec 14, 2014 Park Mall 5:30 a.m.
10k 1:29
Weather: Light showers at 5 am, cold at dawn

One of the best runs I attended this year. Its only 10k, but they give you great stuff. A personalized singlet (a first), finishers medal and loot bag for all distances, finishers shirt for 10k, a unique charm bracelet given at the first u-turn, chocolate, gatorade and banana station and most of all a larsian scrumptius breakfast complete with soybitz suka. Sulit di ba.

I only ran once (12 ikot sa oval) two weeks after my 42k and I feel out of shape. The week has been sunny but on saturday, rain began to shower. When I started my run, it also started to rain but stopped after 20 minutes. Even with my out of shape body, my time is still good. The route has a lot of turns but since its only 10k, I didnt get lost. There was also another ongoing run at the convention center. I guest Cebu is big enough for 2 simultaneous runs.

Breakfast provided was 2 bbq, 2 puso,1 boiled egg and 1 bottled water.

I wish and pray there's a statement run 2. Please, I will try to think of a new statement run starting now..Still bisdak pa rin.

I did a Full Mary. You can now call me a MARATHONER! Yey

The Historic Resort City Marathon -Lapulapu
Lapulapu City Hall, Nov. 30 2014 (Bonifacio day) 12 midnight
42k 7 hours 38 minutes

It took me a year before I ran for 21k. I was second, ahhh maybe the last runner.
My Precious Finishers Medal
After more than 2 years, Finally I ran a full mary. I was 5th to the last runner. I never thought this day would come. I never thought I would be strong enough or ready enough or have trained enough to run 42k. The last 12k was the longest run ever. Gosh! My knees hurt, my body is sore that I had to take alaxan fr, but miraculously, no serious injuries. I am complete. At least for now, maybe I'll join AWUM for a 50k. Lets wait and see. Thanks Lapulapu! Happy Andres Bonifacio Day! And Most of all, Thank You Lord!

Some Comments:
* stayed at Mactan Pensionne House (P1200)
* used my highland backpack which contains garbage bag, flashlight, chocolates, 500ml water bottle, shades, coin purse, small towel. The glow in the dark shoelace I used  to tie my backpack keeps getting untied. Note to self, dont use it again.
*  weather was cool, some rainshowers. Cloudy at 5:30 a.m.
* First 24k (2nd turning point) was okey. Rested  a bit, stretched and ate chocolates
* Streets at Basak, Lapulapu and nearby brgy was busy busy busy
* For some reason, the water stations disappeared after the turning point. Someone complained so the last 10k had 3 water stations.
*Meal Provided: Rice, chicken and bihon. 1 gatorade and 1 bottled water.
* with finishers shirt with small green bag
* brownout when I came back at the pension house. Had to use the stairs.
